Running a snorkel means cooler air and that means more power. A snorkel also allows cleaner air and an air ram effect can improve most vehicles' performance.
Some people elect to have these fitted professionally - allow $125 to $250 at most joints. Fitting is straightforward - afterall the professionals just get the nuff nuffs to do it any way. The hole is what puts most people off - you can do the hole yourself either of the following ways.
- Hole saw - buy a sharp hole saw in the designated size - the template allows for the pilot hole location. Note this is the trickiest method. Make sure the saw does not over heat so take it slow and spay water on the saw as it cuts - this will prevent the paint burning.
- Sabre saw (jig saw variant) - once you have a starting hole some people seem to have these tools down pat and have the hole done in no time.
- Tin Snips - you will be surprised what a sharp pair of tin snips can do - this is by far the safest way with the least chance of slipping
- Lots of small holes and then a die grinder to smooth things out.
This snorkel comes complete with all the bits you would expect; head ram, hose clamps, screws, mounting bracket, templete etc, all you need is a hole to fit it too!
