Heavy Duty Lower Control Arms (1 pair) for Patrol Coil Rear End
+16 mm in length.
If you have a GQ SWB patrol and go regular off roading it is only a matter of time before you or the next owner of your car will break a control arm. If you think it will never happen I challenge you to front up to a Nissan club meeting and ask in general business for a show of hands how many have had this trouble. Surprise Surprise!!! That and weak GQ CVs are the Nissan down fall - not bad all things considering.
STOP PRESS - In order to remove driveline vibration, the face of the diff pinion flange and the face of the g'box output shaft flange need to be parallel - That means both uni joints have exactly the same degree of bend in each. To achieve this, the lower arms need to be longer - and is contrary to what the alleged experts tell you re getting diff to point to the g'box. I've only done about 2,000 patrols but what would I know....
The standard arms are no more than 1mm thick steel. They are very light weight and once a small bend or ding appears it is just begging to snap. Let's face it, the entire driving force that makes the wheels push the car is pushed through these arms.
When an arm goes, it often takes out both sides, both shock absorbers break and often the pinion shaft of the diff or tail shaft breaks too. These aren't easy things to fix and only tend to go when extreme force is exerted (ie charging up a steep hill and not in the drive way at home) You can not get towed out as you can not control the direction of the back wheels - you need a trailer or you fix it in the bush. Not only does this stuff the weekend but can lead to a $2000 repair bill.
A standard control arm weighs 1600grams. These h/duty control arms weigh 2500grams. That's 56% heavier.
This is a x 2 kit to do both rear lower control arms.
Uppers are rarely a problem unless you have an aux fuel tank and you may have a clearance problem. (I have upper arms which clear the tank too)
This set is 16mm longer than std. They suit SWB with greater than 2" lift. I have also listed +10mm in this store for SWB up to 2" and all the LWB's and Utes.
They come without bushes. The best bushes (for flex) are rubber (Genuine Nissan). Most people press out the old bushes from their old arms and press them into the new arms. On the other hand, I can supply new Nissan bushes for $35 ea (you need x 4). If you want me to supply arms with new bushes pressed I shall press for free and not charge additional freight.
You will need to purchase 4 of our rubber control arm bushes off this webshop as well if you wish for us to press the bushes in for you.
